Artwork > Something New Everyday, solo exhibit at NoBA Projectspace, Bala Cynwyd, PA, 2017

These paintings stem from moments that occur in my everyday life. The title of this exhibit, Something New Every Day, comes from a personal place - these daily moments - as well as a response to the political climate today. At home, watching my four year old grow, learn and continuously evolve is often joyful and sometimes challenging. Unfortunately, right now there is also the addition of profound anxiety about the state of our country that permeates these moments. Through my paintings, I interpret and explore this relationship between abundant joy and deep concern that shapes my day. As there is always something new every day.

In 2016 and 2017, I began projects at the start of each year to be done throughout the year. In 2016, I completed my 100paintings project of 100, 12” x 12” paintings. This year, I am working on my 50paintings2017 project of 50 shaped paintings. My intention for these projects is to share my process, to show how I move through ideas and to start conversations around abstract painting. Creating these challenging goals has pushed my work in new directions. Paintings from both of these series are included in this exhibit.
