Flexibility, strength and durability have profoundly inspired my work in the last few years. My paintings, that have always stemmed from moments that occur in my everyday life, come from a personal place, as well as a response to the events of the world at large. At home, witnessing my son grow, learn and continuously evolve is often joyful and many times surprising. Unfortunately, there is the addition of a profound anxiety about our current shared situation and the realization of how different the future may look for all of us, that permeates these moments. I am deeply affected by the adjustments we are all making to a constantly changing reality and the resilience I see everyday. Through my paintings, I interpret the relationship between happiness and deep concern; hope and sorrow; fear and acceptance; compliance and resistance; isolation and connection. By analyzing these competing forces in my work, I am able to further explore and understand their value.
